Welcome to Room 14's
Weekly Update

Math
We evaluated each other's math riddles to make sure we found all of the possible answers. We talked about several different multiplication strategies, like halving and doubling, lattice multiplication and the standard multiplication algorithm. Ask me about the multiplication strategy that works best for me.

This week we were excited to have our first classroom debate: Be it resolved that students should be allowed to bring cellphones to Ranchlands school. We presented our speeches and tried to be prepared for rebuttals. We learned that a rebuttal is challenging because you do not know what your opponent is going to say and you have to be able to think on your feet.
In the Tale of Despereaux, we learned more about Miggery Sow's life as a servant. Why was Mig not afraid to go into the dungeon?

Debate Time

Health
We started a Souper Stars related health project, where we are researching a topic related to health, nutrition and safety. This was our last week of Souper Stars and we all received a certificate.

Social

We are wrapping up our Regions unit. We completed our presentations on Google slides so they are available to view online. The next week we will be participating in review sessions before our quiz next week. Keep your eyes open for another blog review presentation.

Science

After our partner study time, class review, and a digital review presentation accessible at home we wrote our Wetlands Quiz. We will be getting our marks back next week. Make sure to ask me how I did and what our next unit is.

Ready for our student led conferences
Other

Mrs. Kis and Ms. R will be away Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Ms. Drever will be in our learning space. We are excited to have her as our guest teacher.
