We have been focusing on the following Learning Intensions this week:
- Understand that wetlands store, filter, and provide oxygen
- Examining the physical geography of Canada (7 Regions)
- Digital citizenship
- Use primary sources to interpret historical events and issues
- Understanding place values to millions and billions
- Focusing on using context cues to understand new vocabulary
Math
- This was our last week to finish our millions and billions value project
- We challenged our brains to trillions
- Ask me about our math game- How Many Rows? (reviews multiplication, area, and strategic thinking
- We completed a mini-assessment check - of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division strategies
- Learned how to use our fancy new calculators
Social
- We learned that there is 7 regions
- We have started to discuss our group project
- We are starting to discuss Remembrance Day
Science
- We have started our research project on the Wetlands. Ask me what wetlands I am researching (bog, pond, fen, marsh/slough, swamp)
- Ask me about some of the living and non living things found in my wetlands
- We did a science experiment about Flooding and Filtration
Language Arts
- We continued with the Tale of Despereaux -We are working on Chapter 4, 5, 6 art cards
- Ask me: What was the most basic mouse rule that broke? Think of the word "reveal"
- Began using Thinkmarks to show our understanding of our personal reading
Other
- Ask me about our 4 Star Math Problem
- We learned about belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity during our Circle of Courage
- We started buddies with our Grade 1/2 class
- During Souper Stars we practised our knife skills and made delicious sandwiches
- Next week we will be working on cutting veggies.
