October 9th to 12th


Welcome to Room 14's
 Weekly Learning Adventure

Learning Intentions: 

  • Identify some plants and animals found at a wetland site, both in and around the water 
  • Understand that wetlands store, filter, and provide oxygen 
  • Digital Citizenship 
  • Understand that Canada is made up of seven unique physical regions 
  • Understand that living and non-living organisms in a wetland work together 
  • Connect the animals and plants in a food chain and understand how they support each other

Math
  • We are working on reading and solving math riddles in preparation for writing our own
  • Here's an example:

I am a number between 1-100.
One of my digits is odd and one is even.
When O add my digits together, the answer is 7.
  • Ask me about our new 4 star math problem challenge this week

Science

  • We started our wetlands project
  • Ask me about my Barbara Reid inspired part of the project







LA

  • We continued with the Tale of Despereaux
  • We are on Chapter 11 in our 
  • Ask me about perfidy (otherwise known as treachery or betrayal). 
  • How did Lester show perfidy?
  • Be prepared for a Fishbowl discussion: What would you do if you were Lester?
  • We worked on Thinkmarks to show our understanding of our personal reading

Social

  • We made our groups for our regions presentations
  • Ask me what region my group is going to be presenting

Other

  • Ask me about the difference between a Growth Mindset  and a Fixed Mindset
  • We are starting TSN (Try Something New) next Friday
  • We read with our Grade 1/2 buddies
