October 29th to November 2nd

Welcome to Room 14's
Weekly Learning Adventure

Iris
We updated Iris with Understanding Myself as a Learner, Goals and Strategies to meet those goals. Please review my personal goals before the November Parent Conferences.

Math
We did a quick review of factors and multiples and then discussed the importance of friendly numbers in estimation. We typed up our math riddles on Google Docs. Ask me to share them with you.

Here are some great sites to visit for math:

Math Live (Grade 5) : http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/me5l/html/Math5.html

Spy Guys (Grade 6) http://www.learnalberta.ca/content/mesg/html/math6web/index.html

L.A.
We discussed the pros and cons of kids bringing cell phones to school in preparation for a class debate. We continued with The Tale of Despereaux and discovered Roscuro's desire for revenge. Ask me how the Queen died- it is quite the story!

Social
We have started our group research projects and have started completing our planning sheet. We need to start thinking about how we want to present our information. Ask me what region my group is presenting and some facts I have learned.

Science
We have finished setting up our presentation station of our wetlands. We have completed our peer and self assessment of our wetlands projects. Ask me about receiving and providing assessment.

Other
Souper Stars
We learned about the importance of active living for our health. Ask me how long a child my age should be active per day.

Gym
In gym we are working on field games. Ask me to tell you about the activities Mr Ellice has taught us so far.

TSN
We had our second Try Something New!

Flag Football
The Cougars and the Dino's competed in our season finale today. The whole went out to the field to support the teams. It was a great game!
