Math
We discussed that learning involves making lots
of mistakes, and trying again. Mistakes and challenges help our brains grow!
We played Mrs. Wickland’s math mysteries game.
Ask me about it.
We looked closely at the numbers 1 to 35 in a
visual display and found some very interesting patterns, involving multiples
and prime and composite numbers. We also found intriguing patterns in a
hundreds chart.
L.A.
We continued with the Tale of Despereaux. Now we are in the dungeon learning about the evil ways of rats. Ask me what a rat’s favourite activity is.
We read some articles about the issue of having cell phones in schools to identify pros and cons and prepare for a mini-debate.
Social
We have been using a variety of sources to research a land region of Canada and fill in an information chart to prepare for our presentations

Halloween
In the past our school council has hosted an annual
Halloween event, however space restrictions mean that this is not possible this
year. Students are invited to wear their costumes to school, but are asked to
be respectful of those who don't participate or might be scared by some
costumes. Students should not include any face masks, makeup, weapons or
frightening costumes. Staff will be dressing up too!
Instead of sending sugary treats, we will be having our birthday
celebration day on October 31. Parents of children with October birthdays are
invited to send healthy snacks like veggies and fruit, or even muffins instead
of cupcakes.
Happy Halloween! |
